Church of Misericórdia

It is a typically Baroque church from the seventeenth century.
The façade is in granite and it is decorated with pilasters and windows. The interior, of a single nave, is entirely covered by glazed tiles from the eighteenth century, assigned to the workshop of the family Oliveira Bernardes, depicting various figures and biblical scenes. On its wooden ceiling we can admire the ‘Visitation’, painted by Jerónimo da Rocha Braga, in 1743.
The sanctuary exhibits a magnificent gilt woodwork altarpiece of the eighteenth century and in the sacristy there are important relics, such as a painting of the seventeenth century allusive to the Purgatory.
