Among the various typical delicacies, we highlight: pastéis de Chaves (puff pastry with minced veal meat), presunto de Chaves (Chaves smoked ham), folar (soft dough stuffed with smoked ham and smoked pork sausages), bola de carne (bread with smoked ham and smoked pork sausages), rye bread baked in wood-fired oven, smoked pork sausages (fumeiro: alheira, chouriço, linguiça, salpicão…), honey and jams.

Our visitors also like the various dishes of codfish, ‘cozido à trasmontana’ (a boiled mixture of meats (pork, beef and sausages), vegetables, potatoes and rice), ‘feijoada à trasmontana’ (beans stew with meat and vegetables) and ‘posta barrosã’ (barrosã meat), accompanied by the excellent wines of the region.
